The Financial Services Department is committed to managing all the financial operations for the Habersham County School District and providing comprehensive fiscal services that support organizational effectiveness and the Board of Education's mission and vision.
Within the scope of this commitment is the responsibility to accurately and efficiently manage and report the financial position and business activities of the Habersham County School District. The district uses a multi-fund accounting system designed specifically for governmental entities to ensure the district's financial reports are fully compliant with generally accepted accounting principals, follow industry best practices, and maintain sound fiscal stewardship of public funds.
Some of our responsibilities include: Accounts Payable; Accounts Receivable; Administrative Support to Schools, Departments and Programs; Annual Audits; Annual Budgets; Banking Services & Cash Management; Employee Benefits Administration; General Ledger; Grants Accounting; Education SPLOST Project Accounting; Federal, State and Local Reporting; Financial Management; Financial Reporting; Internal Controls; Oversight of School Based Accounting Activities; Payroll Administration; Purchasing; Property/Capital Asset Inventory; Risk Management; and System-Level Contract Management.
These responsibilities require our staff to be service-oriented with respect to the financial needs of our schools, our employees, departments, government agencies, vendors, and the general public, while simultaneously assuring all transactions adhere to system policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and rules established by authoritative governing bodies.
