What is a strategic plan?

A strategic plan serves as a tool for an organization that defines the current state and outlines where the organization would like to be in five or ten years.  The document should serve one purpose - to help the organization do a better job.  When done correctly, the strategic planning process must take time, involve all stakeholders, and provide the organization with a clear process to accomplish the desired state.   During the 2012 - 2013 school year, HCSS has begun the process to develop a strategic plan. The first step in this process involved the development of a purpose and direction for the school system - One Team, One Mission - Success for ALL Students.  Throughout Spring 2013 and Fall 2013, the system will engage fully in the strategic planning process to develop a comprehensive five year plan incorporating the recommendations from the February 2013 AdvancED SACS Accreditation visit, the data from the State of Georgia Department of Education College and Career Readiness Performance Index, and student achievement data.
