On Friday, October 8, 2010, at John Larry Black Field, Community Bank and Trust presented a significant financial gift for classroom technology to Habersham County Schools. On behalf of the school system, Board of Education Chairperson Meredith McConnell accepted a check for $80,000 from CBT President Jeff Fulp before a large crowd at Raider Stadium. After learning about Habersham County School System's efforts to implement 21st Century instructional technology in every classroom for every student, the management of CBT made a surprise visit to superintendent Robert Costley in September in which they announced their intention to partner with the school system in upgrading their classroom technology. "In today's challenging economic times," said Jeff Fulp, CBT market president, "we need to find ways to support and reward not only academic excellence, but also every effort to make our schools - now and in the future - the best they can be. We are proud to play a part in that ambitious effort and pledge our on-going support to implement fully 21st Century technology to benefit every student." Using the $80,000 gift, Habersham County Schools will be able to complete the installation of interactive white board and LCD projector technology in all 1st and 2nd Grade classrooms before Christmas, aiding the school system in completing the installation for all students by fall 2011. "We are absolutely overwhelmed by this generous gift from Community Bank & Trust," said Chairperson McConnell. "It is a tremendous gesture of community support."
