State Programs

EIP

Children start school at a designated chronological age, but differ greatly in their intellectual development and experience base. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is designed to serve students who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. The purpose of the Early Intervention Program is to provide additional instructional resources to help students who are performing below grade level obtain the necessary academic skills to reach grade level performance in the shortest possible time.

Instructional Extension Program

The IEP program is a state funded program beyond the regular school day that addresses the academic needs of low performing students. Students work with certified teachers before or after school on academic content standards.

Gifted and Talented

Habersham County Schools recognizes the need to provide gifted education services to students who have the potential for exceptional academic achievement. Elementary gifted students are served at our Discovery Center located at Demorest Elementary. Middle and high school students are served through our Honor's Program and Advance Placement courses. Referrals for placement in this program may be made by teachers, counselors, administrators, parents or guardians and other individuals with knowledge of student's abilities.
